In conjunction with SLS Singapore's mission to continuously creating an advantage for our customers, SLS and Optibelt organized a joint seminar on 14th April 2016. The seminar was a half-day morning event at the Genting Hotel in Jurong and focused on applications specific to the Oil & Gas and Petrochemical industries, in particular the Fin Fan belt application.
Highlighting the strong partnership between SLS and Optibelt, SLS was privileged to have Mr. Maurice Sartorio, the Managing Director of Optibelt Asia Pacific Pte. Ltd., as guest speaker of the seminar. Mr. Sartorio presented a wide variety of topics specially tailored for the Oil & Gas and Petrochemical industries.
Firstly, customers were introduced to Optibelt and its business areas, as well as the relationship with SLS Bearings Singapore. Information on the fin-fan application was also provided, as well as ISO classifications and quality management.
The key focus of the seminar was on the products which were commonly used in the oil and gas and petrochemical industry, such as V-belts and Timing belts. Customers were given an in-depth insight into the features of the belts, as well as their production tolerances and performance comparisons versus other belt brands. There was also much practical advice disseminated, such as installation recommendations and methods, and trouble shooting methodology for the belts.
The seminar was also structured so that participants could absorb as much information as possible. A practical demonstration of tools was conducted before the tea break, in between the theory sessions, where participants could see for themselves the actual products and their features live. Newly released tools such as the Vorspan - Tension Gauge and Optibelt TT frequency tension tester were showcased by the team of Optibelt product experts. They were also on hand to field any enquiries customers had.

Besides the practical demonstration, there was also more time for participants to interact with each other and the Optibelt team during lunch. Many interesting insights and information were exchanged. A Q&A session with Mr. Sartorio at the end summed up the seminar.

For the participants of the seminar, each walked away with a better understanding of how Optibelt products could help provide cost-effective solutions as well as tackle their existing operational issues. Overall, the seminar garnered a very positive reception. Both SLS and Optibelt are considering organising more of such seminars in the near future. Stay tuned for more updates!
