SLS Oil Seal Seminar, 25 April 2018 (Singapore)


On 25 April 2018, SLS hosted its first Oil Seal Seminar in conjunction with long term partner NOK with the aim to highlight the importance of seals in an industrial operation. This exclusive seminar was a half-day morning event at SLS HQ in Singapore, with a main focus on seal products and applications specific to industries such as Oil & Gas, Chemical, Pharmaceutical, Medical, Marine, Defense, and Maintenance/Services. A full day event was also held in Klang, Malaysia the following day.

SLS was privileged to have Dr. Robert W. Keller, the Director in Technology at Freudenberg-NOK from Georgia USA as our guest speaker of the seminar. With 37 years of professional experience with a specialization in Rubber, Chemistry and Technology, Dr. Keller holds an impressive list of credentials, including a Ph.D in Polymer Science at the University of Akron in Ohio, and graduating summa cum laude in the Executive M.B.A program at Sullivan University, Kentucky in 2003.

The key focus of the seminar was to introduce seal products and highlight their benefit for the aforementioned industries. Dr. Keller provided in-depth insight into the seal technology and also presented the audience with real world example of each seal application and its results. Dr Keller also shared important information on the guideline on failure modes regarding chemical resistance.

During tea break, attendees also visited our training room that displays different products used for maintenance. Our engineering team was there to provide product demonstration and gave attendees the opportunity to have hands-on experience with the products.

The seminar was also organized in the way that participants could gain as much knowledge as possible. The Q & A platform proved to be a great way for attendees to ask questions and learn more about the products and its application. At the end of the seminar, they were also given the opportunity to network with fellow industry professionals and meet with our guest speaker and SLS engineers.

All in all, the seminar was a great success where our customer was able to gain a deeper understanding about the advantages of seal technologies and were able to take away useful information and knowledge that are important for the success of their respective industry.
